Vol. 5 No. 1 (2024): LINK 2024 Conference Proceedings

The 6th Edition of the LINK 2024 International Conference took place in South America, presenting the latest advancements in practice-oriented research from Aotearoa New Zealand. This year, 21 researchers, including eight prominent Māori scholars, travelled to Chile and Brazil to join forces with local scholars, drawing inspiration from the magnificent Toroa. This albatross journeys to South America's rich, food-laden waters to feed before returning to the Pacific to breed. Similarly, through this conference, we sought to engage with South America's scholars and their knowledge, bringing them back to Aotearoa New Zealand, to nurture and amplify positive outcomes in our research and creative practice.

The conference celebrated the spirit of cultural exchange, encouraging researchers to collaborate and share knowledge with their counterparts in South America. LINK 2024 promoted dialogue on South-to-South knowledge exchange, challenged established boundaries in design, creativity, and indigenous epistemologies, and aimed to strengthen connections between Aotearoa and South America through academic collaboration and innovative research practices.
