  • LINK 2023 Conference Proceedings
    Vol. 4 No. 1 (2023)

The 5th Edition of LINK 2023 International Conference of Practice-led Research and Global South embraces the theme of Latin American Diaspora in Aotearoa New Zealand. In an increasingly interconnected world shaped by globalization and technological advances, LINK 2023 delve into the intricate relationship between the Latin American diaspora that has found a home in Aotearoa and their practices. In doing so, it challenges established norms and boundaries of design, creativity, language, and diasporic knowledge. Continuing in the footsteps of previous editions, this year's conference advocates for novel modes of engagement between design and the Global South arena. In drawing inspiration from the creative practices and methodologies within the Global South, the conference is interested in the role of creative expression in generating knowledge within design processes. These approaches  from South redefine the dynamics between researchers, practitioners, and practice, empowering practitioners to assume control over research data and methodologies. LINK 2023 celebrates these paradigm shifts. It responds to the call for the decolonisation of research within higher education institutions and the critical reappraisal of research methodologies through practice as a form of inquiry. It places emphasis on the interconnectedness that spans physical, social, emotional, spiritual, and intellectual dimensions between people and the environments they inhabit.

This edition is dedicated to the LINK 2021 Conference Proceedings. It includes all abstracts selected via double-blind peer-review evaluated by the conference 56 chair members from dozens of universities around 16 counties and included 283 authors in total. The purpose of LINK 2021 is to raise awareness about practice-oriented research in Art and Design and to stimulate practitioners and educators to share their approaches, methodologies, practices and ideas. Presenters demonstrate the potential of research when practice is an integrated component of the study and constituted as a form of inquiry, from a range of methodological procedures and frameworks. In its 3rd edition, LINK 2021is an online publication with all manuscripts selected from our reviewers.  We hope you enjoy the reading,
