Call for Papers - Research Methodologies Issue
The submission date for submission has been extended to Friday October 18th!
The Rangahau Aranga: AUT Graduate Review team are asking for submissions to our first ever methodology issue. We want this issue to be a resource for those looking at different research designs/ methodologies.
This short piece (800 - 1000 words excluding references) is about your research methodology/ design only – no literature reviews, discussions or results needed!
This isn’t a copy and paste of your proposal/ thesis methodology chapter but a description of why you went with a certain research methodology/ design, how you went about it and any advice for others who may be following the same path.
It can be written in past tense if you’ve finished your research, present tense if you’re still mid research, future tense if you’re yet to start!
We would also like to offer authors the opportunity to be peer-reviewers, supported by a more experienced academic staff member.
Rangahau Aranga is a fully open access, peer-reviewed journal run by and for postgraduate students at Auckland University of Technology.
The journal offers AUT’s postgraduate students to
- Experience academic publishing in a secure, supportive way
- Have a chance at being a peer reviewer
- Have a published piece with a DOI that can be showcased and included on academic profiles
Dates: Friday 18h October
Templates:
We ask that authors use the templates provided in the style guide. If your research does not fit the structure of any of these templates, that’s ok – just use them as a guide.

Peer Reviewers Needed
We ask that all authors consider volunteering to peer review another submission. This is an excellent opportunity to experience peer review in a supportive environment. The submissions aren't long and we will provide clear guidelines to follow.
We run a tuakana/teina mentorship system where we pair new peer reviewers with a mentor. This can be your supervisor or we can help find a mentor for you. Let us know in the discussion box when you submit or contact us at rangahau.aranga@aut.ac.nz.
