As Narrativas Māui: da bowdlerização, deslocamento e infantilização à veracidade, uma abordagem orientada pela prática maori

Em Aotearoa, Nova Zelândia, como consequência da colonização, gerações de maoris foram alienadas de sua língua e cultura. Esse projeto aproveitou uma reconsideração artística do pūrākau (histórias tradicionais), de modo que as histórias anteriormente fragmentadas ou apagadas relacionadas ao Māui-tikitiki-a-Taranga foram orquestradas em uma rede narrativa coerente. Contar histórias não é o mesmo que ler uma história em voz alta ou recitar uma peça de memória. Ela também difere do teatro, embora compartilhe certas características com todas essas formas de arte. Robert Pouwhare, Auckland University of Technology

Robert Pouwhare is a television director/producer and app developer with 40 years of production experience in broadcasting. As an artist, he has exhibited paintings and a sculptural installation at The National Museum of New Zealand, Te Papa Tongarewa and the Wellington Art Gallery. He has also composed music and is the lyricist for over 50 original songs aimed at kohanga reo (Māori language immersion pre-school) children in a concerted effort at language revitalisation.
