Huong: Diseño de una tipografía vietnamita que honra la herencia y celebra la cultura.

Resumen

A través de una investigación práctica, este proyecto pretende diseñar un tipo de letra vietnamita basado en la identidad y el patrimonio culturales. Huong es un tipo de letra que sintetiza la identidad y las tradiciones culturales y que se presenta en forma de muestra tipográfica impresa y carteles contextualizados. A través de la comprensión del significado del arte popular vietnamita y su ortografía, el resultado se logró mediante el proceso de investigación de campo, construcción tipográfica, creación de prototipos y encuadernación. Este proyecto pretende celebrar la cultura vietnamita y honrar mi herencia, ya que aborda la pregunta: ¿Cómo puedo expresar mi identidad cultural a través de un tipo de letra vietnamita? El tipo de letra Huong invita a un público más amplio a conocer mejor la cultura vietnamita a través de la expresión tipográfica.

Abbey Luong, Auckland University of Technology

Abbey Luong é uma criativa baseada na Nova Zelândia. Depois de se formar como Bacharel em Design de Comunicação na AUT, seu projeto final ganhou o prêmio TDC Young Ones em 2024. Com uma paixão por tipografia e design expressivo, ela está atualmente trabalhando no Studio Pask como designer júnior.

Marcos Mortensen Steagall, AUT Auckland University of Technology

Marcos Mortensen Steagall es profesor asociado del Departamento de Diseño de la Comunicación de la Universidad Tecnológica de Auckland (AUT). En su labor investigadora y profesional, el Dr. Mortensen Steagall explora la intersección de la semiótica visual y las metodologías orientadas a la práctica en Arte, Diseño, Comunicación y Tecnología. Su práctica artística, centrada principalmente en la creación de imágenes digitales y con lentes, sirve como método para la producción de conocimiento. El trabajo del Dr. Mortensen Steagall se caracteriza por un enfoque interdisciplinar que fusiona la investigación académica con la práctica artística, destacando la importancia de abarcar diversas narrativas culturales y sistemas de conocimiento en el diseño. Además, es editor de la revista académica LINK Praxis y preside la Conferencia Internacional LINK, que se centra en la investigación orientada a la práctica y el Sur Global.
