Submission Preparation Checklist

As part of the submission process, authors are required to check off their submission's compliance with all of the following items, and submissions may be returned to authors that do not adhere to these guidelines.
  • The submission has not been previously published, nor is it before another journal for consideration (or an explanation has been provided in Comments to the Editor).
  • The submission file is in OpenOffice, Microsoft Word, or RTF document file format.
  • Where available, URLs for the references have been provided.
  • The text is single-spaced; uses a 12-point font; employs italics, rather than underlining (except with URL addresses); and all illustrations, figures, and tables are placed within the text at the appropriate points, rather than at the end.
  • The text adheres to the stylistic and bibliographic requirements outlined in the Author Guidelines.

Author Guidelines

Contributions

Original Articles: Original research with a focus on health in Cambodia, South East Asia and Asia Pacific. Word limit 6000 words excluding references, tables and images.

Integrative or literature review: Review of health matters (which may be underpinned by social and economic issues) within the scope of the ASEAN region. Word limit 4000 words.

Short Report: Suitable for discourses on research findings of a specific nature and therefore may be limited in its generalizability or contribution. E.g. case studies, critical analyses of topical issues. World limit 2000 words.

Commentary or letter to editor: Submitted or invited commentaries on matters within the South East Asia region. Word limit 1000 words.

Presentation of manuscripts

Abstracts: Original Articles, reviews and short reports must be submitted with an abstract. Please use the following headings where appropriate: Introduction, Methods, Results/Discussion, Conclusion. Abstracts for reviews may be unstructured. Word limit 250 words. 

The Journal of Cambodian Health also encourages the use of video abstracts once the manuscript has been accepted for publication. This is to increase the scope and reach of the published article to a wider audience than just those who engage in print media. There are different forms of video abstracts and can involve the use of multi-media approachs such as the use of additional video, graphics, and animination; can take the form of a presentation or interivew style Q & A; and involve the lead author or all authors. Video abstracts should be no longer than 4 mins. 

Once the manuscript has been accepted for publication, the written abstract will be translated into Khmer (by the editorial team) and an English/Khmer version included in the final published article. 

Keywords:
Please provide four keywords after the abstract. These keywords will be used for indexing purposes.

Formatting and Layout

Author names and affiliations:
Please present authors full name below article heading. This is to be presented as a separate page from the article. Indicate all affiliations with a superscript number immediately after the author's name and in front of the appropriate address. Provide the full postal address of each affiliation, including the country name and, if available, the e-mail address of each author.

Authorship and contribution:

The Journal of Cambodian Health follows the International Committiee of Medical Journal Editors authorship guidelines. http://www.icmje.org/recommendations/browse/roles-and-responsibilities/defining-the-role-of-authors-and-contributors.html It is all the authors responsibility to ensure they meet the criteria for authorship. 

Corresponding author:
Clearly indicate who will handle correspondence at all stages of refereeing and publication, also post-publication. Ensure that phone numbers (with country and area code) are provided in addition to the e-mail address and the complete postal address. Contact details must be kept up to date by the corresponding author.

Headings and subheadings:
Please follow abstract guidelines (Introduction, Methods, Results/Discussion, Conclusion) for article headings. Divide your article into clearly defined sections. 

Figures
Figures are to be placed in the body of the article with clear captions. A caption should comprise a brief title (not on the figure itself) and a description of the illustration. Keep text in the illustrations themselves to a minimum but explain all symbols and abbreviations used. Equations should be presented as figures with appropriate captions.

Abbreviations:
Write out abbreviations in full the first time it appears in the article.

Acknowledgements:

Collate acknowledgements in a separate section at the end of the article before the references. Acknowledgments can be made for those who have assisted in the preparation of the article or at any staege during the research that was integral in ensuring the article was ready for publication. 

Citations and Reference list:
Please ensure that every reference cited in the text is also present in the reference list (and vice versa). References should follow APA 6th referencing style.

Editing:

It is the authors responsibility to ensure the manuscript meets a high academic standard. Authors are encouraged to use an editor (not associated with the journal) prior to submission if needed.

Authors submitting articles for publication warrant that the work is not an infringement of any existing copyright and will indemnify the publisher against any breach of such warranty. By publishing in Journal of Cambodian Health, the author(s) agree to the dissemination of their work through Journal of Cambodian Health.

By publishing in Journal of Cambodian Health, the authors grant the Journal a Creative Commons nonexclusive worldwide license (CC-BY-NC 4.0): Creative Commons Attribution-NonCommercial 4.0 International License) for electronic dissemination of the article via the Internet, and, a nonexclusive right to license others to reproduce, republish, transmit, and distribute the content of the journal.
