About the Journal

 

Tua Ira: Journal of Queer Studies Aotearoa is a peer-reviewed and open access journal, with an interdisciplinary focus on new Takatāpui, Queer, and Rainbow research from Aotearoa and Oceania. The journal centres Takatāpui, LGBTQIA+, MVPFAFF+, and Queer lives, histories, cultures, and futures in Aotearoa and beyond.

We welcome contributions that engage holistic and indigenous approaches, and community-centred approaches, including research grounded in partnership, participation, and meaningful engagement with communities. We are open for submissions any time.

Tua Ira is interdisciplinary, contemporary, innovative and equity-oriented. We particularly encourage submissions that challenge traditional academic boundaries and expand what counts as knowledge in Queer Studies.

We are particularly committed to supporting emerging researchers from Aotearoa and the wider Oceania region. The journal actively supports emerging scholars in developing skills in authorship, reviewing, and editorial practice.

Authors submitting articles for publication warrant that the work is not an infringement of any existing copyright and will indemnify the publisher against any breach of such warranty. By publishing in Tua Ira, the author(s) agree to the dissemination of their work through Tua Ira.

Tua Ira does not charge any fees for submission, publication or access to articles.

Archiving and preservation

This journal's content is preserved using the the LOCKSS and CLOCKSS archiving systems.

LOCKSS is a distributed archiving system among participating libraries and permits those libraries to create permanent archives of the journal for purposes of preservation and restoration.

CLOCKSS is global archive that preserves content on behalf of all libraries and scholars worldwide. CLOCKSS preserves content in 12 strategically chosen libraries across the globe to optimize the content’s safety against political and environmental threats.
