PM cover v1(2) 2025

Edition editors: Khairiah A. Rahman and Rachel E. Khan

Global crises, from wars and climate emergencies to AI disruptions, underscore the need for media that not only informs but also fosters empathy, justice, and dialogue. This special edition of Pacific Media themed “Media Construct, Constructive Media,” features research from across Asia and the Pacific presented at the 2024 Asian Congress for Media and Communication Conference in Vietnam. The studies collectively explore how media framing shapes perception while constructive journalism promotes fairness, inclusion, and civic trust. Contributions examine communication for sustainable development, innovation in news start-ups, AI readiness, media literacy, ethical communication, representation, digital engagement, and journalism education reform. Together, they demonstrate that considerate reportage and ethical integrity within media practices strengthen democracy and social responsibility, affirming that constructive media is central to building informed, equitable, and solution-oriented societies.
