About the Journal
The Journal of New Zealand Project Management (JNZPM) is a peer-reviewed, open-access scholarly publication dedicated to advancing the discipline of project management through high-quality empirical research. Founded by Dr. Stephen Thorpe, Director of the Project Management Research Office at Auckland University of Technology (AUT), the journal serves as a platform for disseminating innovative and practice-relevant research that informs both academic and professional communities.
JNZPM’s core focus is on software engineering and IT project management, including agile methods, digital project delivery, AI integration, and complex systems development. The journal also welcomes interdisciplinary research from fields such as construction, infrastructure, and engineering project management, particularly where such contributions offer new insights into the management of projects in dynamic and high-stakes environments.
The journal is supported by a diverse and internationally respected editorial board that brings together researchers and practitioners committed to the rigorous advancement of project management knowledge.
JNZPM is proudly published through Tuwhera, an AUT initiative that supports open access publishing and knowledge sharing. Tuwhera is sustained by the Research Services and Digital Development teams at Te Mātāpuna Library & Learning Services, and operates through open-source platforms such as Open Journal Systems (OJS) and DSpace.
We are also supported by Zenergy, a leading organization in team facilitation, leadership development, and collaborative practice research, whose work contributes directly to the evolution of team-based project management practices globally.
Together with its partners, editorial board, and contributing scholars, the Journal of New Zealand Project Management is committed to fostering impactful, transparent, and accessible research that contributes to the effective delivery of projects across sectors.
