Fostering Cross-disciplinary Collaboration Case Experience Research Society

Abstract

Experience research is growing rapidly with scientific publications coming from hundreds of research fields. There has been little communication between these fields, although sharing theories, methods, and measures between experience researchers across the disciplines would be beneficial. The original idea of Experience Research Society was to foster experience research by establishing a community for researchers from the scattered fields. This paper describes the efforts behind this endeavor during the first four years. It contributes to experience research by highlighting the need for facilitation of crossdisciplinary collaboration and information exchange. It also contributes to research on interdisciplinary community establishment by describing the ideas and facilitation activities from the very start of a multi-disciplinary community.
